Meet Richard Smith

Allan Drew Funerals Castle Hill Location Manager

What do you enjoy about your job?

Meeting with families in diverse and often unexpected scenarios is a unique calling. No two family situations are the same. I find the work rewarding, knowing the farewell of a loved one met the needs of the families and what their loved one would have wanted.

What charities does your brand support in your area?

We support a variety of charitable and community focused organisations, including musical performances at numerous Aged Care centre’s in northern and western Sydney. We received wonderful feedback from staff and residents about the joy these performances bring.

What makes your brand special?
Our unique offerings include the historic Allan Drew Heritage Chapel (and its foundation stones dating back to the 1860’s), an onsite function centre where families can relocate after a service, on-site mortuary facilities, and well-equipped modern offices. These set us apart in the local and wider market. Our commitment is an exemplary standard of service delivered with the utmost professionalism and care.

Meet De'arn McCartney

Allan Drew Funerals Castle Hill Operations Manager

What do you enjoy about your job?
Our team at Allan Drew Funerals are amazing individuals who pull together to ensure the perfect service for each of our families. I believe it’s a privilege to help and guide grieving families in their time of need. I enjoy the event planning and organising the perfect farewell for a loved one.

How long have you been an Operations Manager?
I have worked at Allan Drew Funerals since August 2019. A curiosity around the funeral industry is what initially drew me to apply. I genuinely love all aspects of the industry from working directly with the families arranging the services to overseeing the day-to-day operations of the business and staff.

What do you enjoy in your spare time?
Long walks with my two sausage dogs Molly & Macey, exploring Asian restaurants in Sydney with friends, listening to various podcasts and spending time with my husband and family.

What's one thing people don't know about you?
I love to travel. The most interesting place I have visited to date is Istanbul in Turkey. I am a certified scuba diver and have trained in the self-defence sport, Muay Thai.

What's the most remarkable funeral you've ever arranged?
Held at Castlebrook Memorial Park, we organised several Clydesdale horses and miniature ponies to be present at the service. The deceased was a passionate horse lover. It was a fabulous send off to a wonderful lady.

What makes your brand special?
Our staff show values that resonate with families and we often make one-to-one connections. I believe the uniqueness of our heritage chapel with its history and charm is a distinct reason family are drawn to Allan Drew Funerals.
