Burial & cremation

Burial involves placing the body in a coffin or casket and interring it in a cemetery or memorial park. Cremation uses high heat to create ashes which can then be stored, scattered or placed in a memorial. Both can include anything from a full, traditional service to a simple farewell.

Yes. You can have a full funeral service before cremation, or a memorial service with the ashes present afterwards. Some families choose both. Each style of service can be personalised with music, readings, photos and rituals, just as with a burial.

Once cremation is complete, ashes can be placed in an urn, interred in a memorial garden or niche wall, placed with an existing family grave, scattered in a meaningful place (where permitted), or kept by family at home. Cremation often tends to be more cost-effective, mainly because there’s no burial plot, headstone or grave maintenance.
